Statue of Ferdowsi

Many tourists who are interested in reserve Tehran hotels or book Iran hotels, might be interested to know about Iranian culture and Persian poems.

Abul Qasim Ferdowsi Tusi or Ferdowsi, was an Iranian poet and the author of the epic of Shahnameh ("Book of Kings"), which is the world's longest epic poem created by a single poet, and the national epic of Iran and the Greater Iran. Having drafted the Shahnameh almost 1000 years ago, Ferdowsi is celebrated as the most influential figure in Persian literature and one of the greatest in the history of literature. He is widely regarded as the greatest poet in the Persian language. He was called "The Lord of the Word" and "The Savior of Persian Language".

Ferdowsi tomb:

He was buried in his own garden, burial in the cemetery of Tus having been forbidden by a local cleric. A Ghaznavid governor of Khorasan constructed a mausoleum over the grave and it became a revered site. The tomb, which had fallen into decay, was rebuilt between 1928 and 1934 by the Society for the National Heritage of Iran and has now become the equivalent of a national shrine.(Tehran hotel)

Shahnameh:

Ferdowsi's Shahnameh is the most popular and influential national epic in Iran and other Persian-speaking nations. The Shahnameh is the only surviving work by Ferdowsi regarded as indisputably genuine. He may have written poems earlier in his life but they no longer exist. A narrative poem, Yūsof o Zolaykā (Joseph and Zuleika), was once attributed to him, but the scholarly consensus now rejects the idea it is his. There has also been speculation about the satire Ferdowsi allegedly wrote about Mahmud of Ghazni after the Sultan failed to reward him sufficiently.

Today Statues of Ferdowsi are placed inside and outside Iran. A street in Tehran was named after him (Ferdowsi street) and also a square (Ferdowsi square). Also in Milad tower and even in Rome, Italy, there is a Ferdowsi statue.(Iran hotel)

Beautiful Natural Wonders in Iran

Mount Damavand

66 kilometres northeast of Tehran, at a height of 5,610m, Mount Damavand is the highest mountain in the Middle East and a worthy challenge for any accomplished mountaineer. Visible from Tehran on a clear day, the mountain is snow-capped all year round and features prominently in Persian folklore and literature. Located in the Alborz Mountain range, reaching Damavand’s peak will take the best part of two days – and earn you the eternal

respect of any Iranians in your life. The climbing season is June-September.

Torkaman Sahra

The Turkmen Plains, or the Torkaman Sahra, lies in Iran’s northeastern region, bordering Turkmenistan and the Caspian Sea. The seemingly interminable rolling green hills remain virtually untouched and tricky to access without your own car – but the views are simply spectacular. One focal point to head to is the Khaled Nabi cemetery, notable for its phallic tombstones. Also nearby is the famous 11th-century tower structure Gonbad-e Qabus, memorialised in the west in Robert Byron’s travelogue The Road to Oxiana.
